No sympathy visits from state government officials, Senator Adeola, or anyone, the widow bemoans.
Grief was still permeating his palace when Sunday Vanguard visited there yesterday, more than two weeks after Oba Abraham Olusegun Bankole, the Olu of Onibuku in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government of Ogun State, passed away in a car accident.
The widow, Olori Abimbola Bankole, claimed that with her husband's passing, she had lost her most prized possession.
The grieving woman lamented the absence of state government officials and the area's representatives in parliament, particularly Senator Solomon Adeola (Yayi) and the House of Representatives member, despite the fact that the family had been receiving condolence visits from far and wide.
Sunday Oba Bankole, according to Vanguard, perished on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, after he was run over by a truck after the truck hit the tricycle he was riding in and threw him out. On Ota-Idiroko Road, close to Winners Chapel, the incident took place.
There were contradictory stories regarding why, despite his notoriety, he decided to travel by tricycle.
According to one report, the monarch kept his cars at home and chose to commute on a hired tricycle in an effort to avoid the increase in the price of gasoline.
Olori Abimbola criticized the narrative, claiming that it was actually the circumstances that prohibited her late husband from traveling in one of his two automobiles on the disastrous outing that stopped him from trying to save money on gas.
She claimed that the late monarch had intended to get there in his automobile, but his driver was disappointed.
"He had an appointment with his eye specialist, who had threatened to close if he did not get to Iyana-Iyesi, where his office is located, before closing time," the queen said.
However, he decided to ride in a commercial vehicle because the driver who would have taken him to the eye expert was not right away available.
The driver was to meet him there later and take him home, according to the deal. The claim that he was seeking to avoid paying excessive fuel prices for his car is untrue. He could have easily ridden in one of his two cars as he had two cars.Olori Abimbola lamented the passing, saying it came as a shock.
"That would have been understood if he had been gravely ill and there was no chance he would survive. However, hearing that he had died after leaving the house in good health came as too much of a shock, she claimed.
The grieving queen went on to say that her husband was buried as a "good Christian that he was," and she thanked everyone who had come to offer their condolences to the family.
