According to the Yobe State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, 33 blocks of Cannabis Sativa were found hidden in two sacks of groundnuts.
In a brief statement provided to journalists in Damaturu on Friday, the Command made this disclosure through its Principal Staff Officer for Media and Advocacy, Ramatu SB.
The 133 blocks of compressed Cannabis sativa weighing 62.0kg, which came from Taraba State, were reportedly found in the Potiskum Local Government Area of Yobe State along the Potiskum-Gombe route.
Three people who were connected to the unlawful trafficking were captured during the procedure.
On August 23, 2023, a group of Operatives - Strike Force of the NDLEA, Yobe State Command, under the direction of CSN Jibril Odiba, pursued and stopped a Sharon galaxy vehicle with the registration number AKK 484XA out of Ba-isa Local Government in Taraba State.
The statement read, "Three suspects in the car, Ya'u Yahuza 'M' 30 years old, Yahaya Muhd 'M' 29 years old, and Tanimu Salisu 'M' 20 years old, both natives of Gombe State, were detained with 133 blocks weighing to be 62.0kg of compressed weeds.
Meanwhile, The War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) education campaign has been brought to the NYSC Orientation Camp being held in Dazigau, Nangere Local Government Area, Yobe State, according to the NDLEA Yobe State command.
ACN Aliyu Yaro, the Area Commander of Potiskum Area Command, led a campaign to educate roughly 1,700 members of the military about the dangers of drug misuse.
The campaign included lengthy debates on the topic as well as sessions with questions and answers.
