Three local hunters and a woman were detained in Adamawa for allegedly torturing a 14-year-old child over an alleged theft of N21,000.
Three local hunters and a lady have been detained by the Adamawa State Police Command for reportedly torturing Abobo Nasani, 14, over an alleged theft.

Abobo, of the Tasala community in the state's Demsa Local Government Area, was charged with stealing N21,000 that belonged to Ngularo Pemu.

According to reports, Pemu asked three local hunters—Kanisi India, 35, Paul India, 25, and Dickson Hani, 30—for help in resolving the issue.

According to reports, the suspects brutally beat the young man with a wire while dousing him in gasoline and the locally famous gin known as "ogogoro" to get him to reveal where he put the stolen money.

Before being abandoned by the roadside in Demsa, the minor was shackled to a tree, subjected to additional physical torture, and denied nourishment over the course of two days.

The accused hunters, who acknowledged abusing the youngster, claimed that a first inquiry at their Tasala office revealed that he "stole" the money but that he would not say where he hid it.

The hunters referred the case to their local government headquarters in Demsa for additional inquiry when they were unable to get the money back from the boy.

The senior officials manning the LG Headquarters continued to torture and starve the youngster for two days in an attempt to get him to confess, but to no avail.

Marvelous Tunoh, Abobo's father, claimed that the hunters abandoned his son on the side of the road after being unable to prove a link to the crime.

According to reports, the arrested people admitted to the act, expressed regret, and begged for forgiveness while being questioned by SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the state police command's spokesperson.

After receiving a complaint on the matter, the Commissioner of Police, CP Afolabi Babatola, allegedly ordered the immediate arrest of the perpetrators, according to the PPRO who confirmed the development.

Following the conclusion of the investigation, the command would bring the accused before the court for prosecution, Nguroje promised.
