According to information obtained, four terrorists were ambushed and killed by forces on a fighting patrol in Babangida, Tarmuwa Local Government, Yobe State.
Zagazola Makama was informed by intelligence sources that at approximately 6:45 p.m., Sector 2 troops from the 233 Battalion stationed at Babbangida mobilized quickly and moved to the area to clear the terrorists from Kurnawa and Bajingo villages, both in Tarmuwa LGA of Yobe State, in response to intelligence reports regarding suspected terrorist presence at the Bajingo general area in Tarmuwa.
Troops apparently made contact with the terrorists at Kurnawa, where they killed four of them and found an AK-47 Riffle, two motorcycles, and other random objects.
Two soldiers did, however, suffer minor injuries during the ensuing shootout; they were treated right away and are currently in stable condition.
Similarly, on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at 530 p.m., soldiers from 159 Battalion in Geidam carried out a combat patrol to Jororo village in Gaidam LGA, Yobe State.
The operation was carried out in response to information obtained on the existence and actions of terrorists who were intimidating innocent bystanders and obtaining levies from the village's residents.
Two terrorists were reportedly slain by the troops after they intercepted them and recovered weapons and other goods, including two motorcycles and two AK-47 rifles.
In a related occurrence, on October 25, 2023, the soldiers of the 27 Task Force Brigade stopped an ISWAP terrorist attack on Buni Gari in Yobe State's Gujba Local Government Area.
The assailants, who arrived in large numbers on two guntrucks and motorcycles, began firing intermittently, but the troops' superior firepower forced them to retire back into the jungle.
