DSS confirms the former EFCC chief's release.

The release of Mr. Abdulrasheed Bawa, the former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has been officially confirmed by the Department of State Services (DSS).

In a statement released on Thursday in Abuja, Dr. Peter Afunanya, the DSS's Director of Public Relations and Strategic Communications, verified Bawa's release.

He stated that the former head of the EFCC was freed on Wednesday night, but he withheld the specifics of the agreement.

"A few hours ago, today, October 25, DSS confirms release of former EFCC chairman Abdulrasheed Bawa," he stated.

Remembering that the Federal Government had suspended the former head of the EFCC, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) notes that he had been under arrest by the DSS since June 14.
