NPF works with the Chinese government to fight big crimes and terrorism.
The Chinese government is sponsoring fifteen officers of the Nigerian Police Force, NPC, to receive training on cybercrimes while they are in China.

This was revealed on Monday during the opening ceremony of the 4th Senior Police Officers Conference and Retreat, which was held in the Imo State capital of Owerri. The Inspector General of Police is Ag. IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun.

According to IGP Egbetokun, the security training will provide the participants—who left the nation on Saturday—with the cutting-edge security tactics they need to fight terrorism and other complex crimes.

"I have vigorously engaged international partners to create synergy in combating major crimes," the speaker stated, acknowledging the global and cross-border nature of these crimes and the necessity for increased engagement with our partners.

"I recently participated in and interacted with Chinese officials at the Global Public Security Cooperation Conference in China, which was presided over by the People's Republic of China's Minister of Public Security."

The Chinese government is now more supportive of the Nigeria Police Force as a result of the visit. This is demonstrated by the Chinese government's quick response, which consisted of inviting the Nigerian Police to train fifteen (15) of our officers in cybercrime in China under full Chinese government sponsorship.

"Similarly, I had the opportunity to engage with the hierarchy of INTERPOL at the African Global Interpol Conference in Angola regarding the need to strengthen the synergy between the Nigeria Police and INTERPOL regarding trans-border crimes," he stated.

This has resulted in a renewed partnership with other international players and dedication to INTERPOL. As evidenced by the fact that INTERPOL President Major General Ahmed Naser Al-Raisi, of the United Arab Emirates, is physically present here today, we have secured the organization's commitment to enhanced support for the Force and increased engagement with Nigeria.

The head of police also reaffirmed his intention to realign the Force with President Ahmed Bola Tinubu's resolve to enhance and modernize the country's security framework.

He declared, "The Police Force under my command is ready to take on the threat of violent crimes in our nation, quiet down turbulent areas, and foster an environment of safety, security, and peace that will foster economic growth and prosperity for the entire country.

"This new police administration's primary goals are to increase officer proficiency, standardize service delivery in order to advance a transformative agenda, and uphold citizen rights and officer welfare while adhering to transparency, accountability, and professionalism principles."
