Prince Dapo Abiodun, the governor of Ogun State, has revealed that the state government intends to form a committee to provide a dignified funeral for Chief (Mrs.) Alaba Lawson, the late Iyalode of Yorubaland.
Following a brief illness, Iyalode Lawson passed away on Saturday at the age of 72.
Abiodun referred to the late educationist, philanthropist, and businesswoman champion in Abeokuta as a passionate and selfless woman who was also a big supporter of women's rights during her condolence visit with the family.
The governor stated that the committee that would be formed will communicate with her family to start the process of burying her in a manner appropriate for her.
"We'll be here for you throughout this extremely difficult time. In order to start organizing the last rights to offer Mama a dignified funeral, we are forming a state committee to communicate with the family.
"Your mother was a multifaceted individual to many. She was a highly principled, extremely hardworking woman who wouldn't hesitate to call a spade when she saw one.
Abiodun observed that the late Alaba Lawson was a leading educationist as well as a supporter of all causes related to women's emancipation.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Akinola Lawson, the deceased mother's son, thanked Abiodun for helping their mother achieve her goals and commended him for watching after for their mother when she was in the hospital.
