Ex-INEC employee is rescued by police from kidnappers
An Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) staff member was recovered by the Cross River Police Command on Saturday, not long after she was kidnapped from her Calabar home.

The commissioner praised the bravery of the officers participating in the operation, according to the command's spokesperson, Irene Ugbo, who provided the confirmation.

She said that two cars were found during the operation and that three individuals were taken into custody.

She added that in response to a distress call regarding her kidnapping at Mathias Oje Avenue in Calabar Municipality, the command's Anti Cultism and Kidnapping Squad (ACKS), under the leadership of SP Chukwuma Ogini, had sprung into action.

Ugbo praised the Njangachang teenagers in the area for their bravery in helping to apprehend the perpetrators.

During the operation, the suspects possessed charms, weapons, and ammo.

She restated Commissioner Gyogon Grimah's commitment to purging crime and criminality from the state.

We continue to insist that no kidnapper or criminal will ever again find sanctuary in the state for their crimes and misdeeds.

According to the Inspector General of Police's instructions, this is the commissioner's resolve, she said.
