During a meeting with a delegation from IPAN, led by its National President, Rapuluchukwu Onuzulike, in Awka, Anambra State, the Deputy National Director of MACBAN, Alhaji Gidado Siddiki, expressed gratitude for IPAN's concern regarding the clashes between farmers and herders. He acknowledged the reported destruction of crops and retaliatory cattle rustlings and expressed regret for the indifferent behavior of some herders.
Siddiki pledged decisive actions to address the issue and emphasized the collaboration with IPAN to find a lasting solution to the challenges posed by conflicts between farmers and herders, particularly in Anambra State. He appealed to the Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, to revive the Cattle Menace Committee.
Onuzulike, in his remarks, pointed out the detrimental impact of the careless destruction of crops on yearly yields. He questioned how Nigeria could expect support from the international community to host major events when it struggles to address internal issues like persistent clashes between farmers and herders.
