According to him, the facility was built to monitor the incidence of drug use in Maiduguri and the nation as a whole.

"I am here today to examine and evaluate the Borno Command; but, my visit was primarily an advocacy trip to raise awareness of the drug problem, which has reached intolerable proportions in Nigeria. And the battle through group effort.

"The first was to the state's governor, who has demonstrated unwavering dedication to the fight against drug misuse. We are grateful for his support in the NDLEA and his fight against it, he remarked.

According to the head of the NDLEA, he also paid a comparable visit to Alhaji Abubakar Ibn-Garbai El-Kanemi, the Shehu of Borno, who inspired traditional institutions to completely commit to the fight against drug misuse in the state.

Marwa continued by saying he had also had meetings with representatives of the Federal Neuro Psychiatric Hospital in Maiduguri, head teachers, and representatives of several religious organizations.

He expressed his gratitude to the hospital administration for donating a few beds to the rehabilitation center, noting that this would support efforts to lower drug demand.

The hospital's medical director, Prof. Ibrahim Wakawa, had earlier stated that the gesture was intended to support the NDLEA in its fight against drug misuse.

Wakawa claims that the hospital's clinical service team will be stopping by the rehabilitation center to offer assistance and support to patients.
