The Nigerian Navy's Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Badagry, Lagos, intercepted 50 sacks of cannabis sativa valued at N70 million in Gbethrome community. Lt.Cdr Kelly Umoru, FOB Base Operations Officer, stated that the naval personnel received a tip-off about suspected smugglers in the area, leading to the seizure at an uncompleted building near the beach around 6:30 a.m.
Each sack contained approximately 200 parcels of the suspected cannabis sativa, and the total market value was estimated at N70 million.
The items will be handed over to the appropriate agency for further action.
This interception follows a previous handover of 27 sacks of cannabis sativa worth N35 million by the Navy in Badagry on October 4.
