The Commonwealth scholarship program has helped no fewer than 30,000 Nigerians, according to FG
The Federal Government announced that over 30,000 Nigerians have benefited from the Commonwealth Scholarship Scheme since its inception in 1959.

The Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Education, David Adejo, made this disclosure at the 2024/2025 Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan (CSFP) nomination interview in Abuja.

Adejo highlighted that Nigeria's significant number of awardees is attributed to the country's large population and the presence of talented individuals.

He emphasized the impact of returnee scholars on the development of the nation, particularly in tertiary institutions, aligning with the scheme's objective.

The interview for the limited number of awards will prioritize academic merit, study plan quality, and potential development impact.

Adejo encouraged scholars to contribute to addressing Nigeria's developmental challenges and strive for global competitiveness.

The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission's nomination criteria emphasize relevance to national development.

The Director of the Federal Scholarship Board, Ndajiwo Asta, noted the highly competitive nature of the awards, with only 51 spaces available for the 2024/25 scheme.
