The Enugu government and NDE will train 40,000 jobless youths.
The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) and the Enugu State Government said they are interested in collaborating to train 40,000 jobless individuals in the state each year.

This was said by Dr. Malachy Agbo, the Commissioner for Human Capital Development and Poverty Eradication, on Friday during a familiarization visit to Mr. Eugene Agu, the State Coordinator of NDE, in his office.

Agbo noted that the development of human capital was essential to the welfare and prosperity of the populace, and that this understanding guided the government of Governor Peter Mbah in its efforts to provide youth and jobless individuals with a range of vocational skills so they could find profitable employment.

He underlined that in order to combat poverty, individuals needed to be equipped with more skills to boost the economy, in addition to a formal education.

"In the next eight years, the governor Mbah administration hopes to bring Enugu State's poverty headcount index down to zero."To accomplish this admirable objective, all hands must be on deck. Human capital development is essential to this endeavor for those of us in the ministry.

"We are looking for a partnership that will enable us to train over 40,000 people in Enugu on a variety of vocational skills, and the National Directorate of Employment has the necessary resources and competencies to make this happen," the speaker stated.

The commissioner went on to say that the current administration was dedicated to enhancing peoples' capacities to realize their aspirations and goals in life.

"You can only imagine the exponential growth in the state's economy in the years to come if over 40,000 youths and unemployed ones are trained annually and become income earners," stated Agbo.

In response, Agu conveyed his happiness at the Commissioner's visit and stated that his office was ready and willing to work with the Enugu State Government to fulfill its annual goals and fulfill its mandate.

He gave the assurance that the NDE was available for training and had enough personnel to provide Enugu State natives with high-quality skill development.

He went on to say that the concept aligned with the agency's mission to combat mass unemployment by placing a strong focus on individual responsibility.
