The NNPP supports Atiku and calls for a political union in opposition to the APC.
On Tuesday, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) endorsed the call made by Former Vice President and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, for a merger of opposition parties against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The NNPP expressed its belief in the unity of political parties and politicians as a crucial element for peace, tranquility, and development.

Speaking to journalists in Abuja, the acting National Chairman of NNPP, Abba Ali, praised Atiku Abubakar's call, considering it patriotic and a positive development.

Ali emphasized that while supporting Atiku's proposal, NNPP suggests that such collaboration should be comprehensive and broad.

Ali recalled the opposition parties' united front in 2015, leading to a merger that resulted in the defeat of the ruling People's Democratic Party (PDP).

He mentioned that Atiku's call for a merger aims to counter the APC's push towards a one-party state and safeguard the nation's democracy.

Ali stated that NNPP is currently assessing the country's mood and political atmosphere, expressing the party's openness to any initiative from political parties and willingness to engage in discussions aimed at protecting democracy and fostering the accelerated and sustainable development of Nigeria.

Despite challenges, NNPP remains confident in providing alternatives in the political landscape and is open to collaborating with other parties for the greater good of the country.
