Governor Dapo Abiodun has received praise from the Ogun State chapters of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) and the Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools of Nigeria (ASUSS) for giving civil and public officials in the state a Christmas bonus.Governor Abiodun is a true leader who has the best interests of the state workforce at heart, according to the two unions' separate letters of appreciation, which were signed by the state's TUC Chairman, Akeem Lasisi, and Comrades Felix Oluwaseun Agbesanwa and Bankole Oluwaseyi, the Chairman and Secretary of ASUSS, respectively.
In a letter on behalf of TUC, Lasisi stated that the Christmas bonus and December wage will help employees and their families cope with the present economic difficulties.
He stated that while TUC was taken aback by the gesture, it did not disregard the governor's kind disposition.
"We are not unaware of the humanness that His Excellency defined, but we were shocked to learn that His Excellency, in his usual gracious capacity, has approved the payment of the Christmas bonus for the state's workforce," the speaker stated.
"The current administration's ability to pull a fast one has been further demonstrated by the unexpected Christmas bonus package. Undoubtedly, this act will significantly mitigate the impact of the ongoing financial struggles that employees and their families deal with on a daily basis.
We have faith in His Excellency's moral fiber, ability, and most importantly, compassion to inspire Ogun workers to be more engaged, driven, content, and joyful in their work, which will benefit our beloved state's production.
However, we assure you that this unexpected display of fatherhood from His Excellency will inspire our colleagues to work even harder to produce a larger harvest for our beloved state on all fronts.
"We deeply appreciate Your Excellency's efforts in keeping our beloved state's labor relations remarkably stable.
"Please accept the assurances of our appreciation, unwavering loyalty, and support for the administration led by Governor Dapo Abiodun."
While expressing gratitude to the governor, the ASUSS leadership pointed out that the current administration has gained even more support from state employees, particularly teachers, as a result of paying December salaries and Christmas bonuses.
They said that the gesture was unheard of in the state's history.
The leadership of ASUSS has observed that the governor has said he would take more action to counteract other unpaid leave benefits and global deductions when the state's economy strengthens.
