Experts attribute the government's neglect for the low production of vaccines.Medical professionals and interested parties have held the government accountable for Nigeria's poor vaccination production, which will make it challenging to stop the spread of infectious illnesses there.

Due to the recent increase in disease outbreaks of malaria, diphtheria, cholera, meningitis, and measles, the Nigeria Network of NGOs (NNNGO), in partnership with The People's Vaccine (PVA) and Global Call to Action Against Poverty (GCAP), led this report on the status of vaccine production.

In a statement, the Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) stated that the nation's public health services are still underfunded and have inadequate infrastructure, which exacerbates inequality. They further stated that governments and institutions at all levels must place a high priority on protecting people's health.

Since health is essential to both economic development and national security, it is a right that needs to be upheld. Underfunding and inadequate infrastructure continue to plague public health care across the nation, exacerbating inequalities, according to Oyindamola Aramide, Communications Lead, NNNGOs.

The CSOs noted that not much has changed since the World Health Organization (WHO) established the vaccine hub in February 2022 and emphasized the need to increase timely funding, national research capacities, and support innovations that speed up the production of life-saving vaccines.
