Medical leave: Ondo Assembly attests to receiving Akeredolu's letterOn Wednesday, the Ondo State House of Assembly formally acknowledged receiving a letter from the state's governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, asking to continue on his medical leave in Germany.


The Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Mr. Olamide Oladiji, made this announcement in a statement that was provided to reporters in Akure.


Oladiji clarified that the governor's actions were compliant with Federal Republic of Nigeria Constitution Section 190 (as amended).


In the interim, till Akeredolu returns to undertake his duties, the speaker stated that Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the Deputy Governor, would function in the governor's place.


According to him, the letter specified that the leave would start on December 13.


Oladiji, who gave thanks to God for the governor's quick recovery, expressed hope that the governor would soon return to his job.


According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the governor had submitted a letter to the legislature in July asking for a medical leave of absence. On September 7, the governor returned to the nation.
