Speaker at Budget Retreat asks for support for Otu's development plan
Elvert Ayambem, the speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, has urged state assembly members to back Governor Bassey Otu's development agenda.

Ayambem said as much during a three-day retreat organized by the Ikom Local Council assembly. He pointed out that the N250 billion budget proposal is proof of the governor's commitment to improving the lives of the people.

The speaker declared: "The 2024 appropriations bill, lovingly referred to as the People's First Budget," shows a commitment, an agreement between the legislative and executive branches to cooperate for the benefit of the people as a whole."

Declaring that the 2024 budget is bold in its breadth, he tasked the lawmakers to use the retreat to study the budget's intricacies and uncover its major benefits for the people.

He pledged to take the state to new heights. It serves as a road plan and a beacon of hope for a time when our people prosper in a prosperous society.

"Let us remain united as we deliberate, collaborating with the executive to polish and perfect this bold plan."

"Now more than ever, we have to align with the governor's vision, adapting as needed, and working together harmoniously to achieve our common goals,” Ayambem stated.

He urged the lawmakers to be honorable representatives, patriots, and change-makers who would leave a legacy that speaks to every citizen's ambitions.
