Cancer: FG to examine the policy on hospice and palliative care
The Federal Government is set to review the National Policy and Strategic Plan for Hospice and Palliative Care 2021 to enhance the quality of life for cancer patients.

Dr. Uchechukwu Nwokwu, the National Coordinator of the National Cancer Control Programme, revealed that the policy, established in 2021, aimed to institutionalize hospice and palliative care services in Nigeria.

Although the policy is already in effect, the government plans to review its implementation by 2024.

Nwokwu emphasized the importance of integrating palliative care into primary healthcare to provide holistic support for patients with terminal illnesses.
