The Nasarawa State Police Command has reported the arrest of 38 individuals in Lafia for alleged public disturbance related to the recent Supreme Court decision upholding the election of Governor Abdullahi Sule.
The arrested protesters were swiftly brought to court and remanded at the Lafia Custodial Centre, facing charges before the Chief Magistrates’ Court 3 Lafia.
The Chief Magistrate, Mohammed Abdullahi Lanze, postponed the ruling on their bail application to Monday after hearing the prosecuting counsel, Danjuma Allu.
The defense counsel, Illiya Ashokpa, had requested bail for the protesters, but the application was denied.
The group comprises five males and 33 females. The Supreme Court affirmed Governor Sule's victory on Friday.
