In a statement released by Chief Chris Akomas, the forum called for a constitutional revision that would clearly define the Deputy Governors' functions in the nation.
The forum insists that deputy governors get their dues after running on joint tickets with their governors, which took place during their Annual National Conference and Summit in Abuja on October 23 and 24, 2023.
During the meeting graced by former President Goodluck Jonathan, it was also decided that governors should effectively delegate to their deputies in order to utilize their abilities, knowledge, and talents for the proper governance of their individual states.
It was decided, among other things, that in order to improve effective governance, governors should make an effort to keep a positive working relationship with their deputies;
They urged governors and their deputies to work together to pursue their governance agenda in a seamless manner in order to maintain political inclusivity and unity.
"That in order to effectively address the crisis in the current standard of living, social engineering is imperative; and that in the course of governance, serving Deputy Governors should duly accord their Governors due respect."
The conference was presided over by Chief Kanu Agabi, SAN, a former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice. Among the attendees were Senator George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), and Dr. Alhaji Abdullahi mar Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
