In Imo, ICPC is monitoring 82 constituency projects worth N8 billion.82 constituency projects worth N8 billion in Imo are now being tracked by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

This was revealed by Mr. Victor Onakpoberuo, Team Lead of the ICPC's projects monitoring team, to reporters on Wednesday in Owerri.

According to Azuka Ogugua, the spokeswoman for the ICPC, the initiative is a part of the tracking of 1,932 constituency projects worth N500 billion throughout 26 states of the federation.

The exercise was the sixth phase of the commission's Constituency and Executive Project Tracking Initiative (CEPTI), according to Onakpoberuo, the principal superintendent.

He claims that this is in keeping with the mission of the ICPC, which is to purge Nigeria of all corruption and corrupt activities.

In order to provide the public with quality services, he continued, the operation was designed to look into fraudulent procurement practices in public contract awards.

Additionally, he stated that the monitoring team would guarantee the thorough completion of all publicly sponsored projects, enforce adherence to legal criteria, and guarantee that the government receives value for the money invested in projects.

The commission will track 82 projects worth N8,213,772,862.16 in various Imo villages as part of the initiative.

"The initiative is aimed at accelerating development at the community levels, to empower local communities to take ownership of constituency projects and to ensure value for money in government expenditures," he stated.

However, he stated that the monitoring team will go to each constituency project in each of Imo's 27 council areas to make sure they were finished and up to par.
