FG will see to it that disability desks are set up in MDAs.
According to the Federal Government, in order to meet the needs of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), heads of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) must set up disability desks and officers.

This was said during a press conference on Wednesday in Abuja by Mr. Mohammed Isa, the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the President on Disability Matters.

In addition, he pledged to see to it that inclusive policies and a supportive environment for people with disabilities were developed.

In addition, he said that his office would consult with pertinent parties over the 2018 Discrimination Against Persons with Disabilities (Prohibition) Act change.

In order to address the multiple flaws in the law, he stated that the office will also seek to develop procedures for amending the Act in accordance with the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD).

He claims that in order to carry out President Bola Tinubu's "Renewed Hope Agenda," this will be done in collaboration with the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD) and the introduction of global best practices.

In order to guarantee the creation and execution of legislative frameworks, policies, plans, and programs that promote disability inclusion, participation, and growth, he further stated that he would interact with state governors and other authorities.

"I will promptly engage the various authorities in charge of Federal Government palliative initiatives to include PWDs, especially to guarantee the allocation of quota for them," he declared.

Movement is essential and the key to participation, so I will work with the NCPWD and the Ministry of Transportation to start the process of creating rules on transportation for PWDs right away.

"I will also work with the humanitarian and anti-poverty organization to include PWDs in order to provide them with short-term relief and eventually help them escape poverty."

The special assistant went on to say that collaborations with development organizations would be encouraged in order to strengthen PWDs' capacity for social integration and job preparation. Additionally, employers of labor would be partnered with to guarantee meaningful employment for jobless individuals.

In order to guarantee the mainstreaming of the disability perspective, Isa further stated that he will work with NCPWD to provide appropriate oversight, supervision, and monitoring of all government programs as well as donor interventions.

In order to promote, strengthen, and encourage their work, as well as to harmonize all initiatives within the framework of the Renewed Hope Agenda for the benefit of PWDs in Nigeria, he declared, "My office will partner with all Organizations of Persons with Disability (OPDs) and NGOs."

In addition to thanking Tinubu for the appointment, he promised to improve the lives of PWDs and strive toward Nigeria being a more wealthy and disability-inclusive country.

President Bola Tinubu appointed Isa, a PWD, on November 9 in order to make sure that every sector of society is well taken care of, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
