Yahaya, the representative for Zamfara State's Talata Mafara/Anka Federal Constituency, was reportedly shot near the Gusau-Funtua expressway.
In Kucheri village, the scene of the event, two more persons are said to have died.
According to reports, Yahaya encountered terrorists at Kucheri, near the Gusau-Funtua route, on Wednesday afternoon as he was leaving Gusau for Kano. This incident occurred at around 2:00 pm.
Multiple bullet wounds were sustained by the former Federal Law Maker as terrorists opened fire on his vehicle.
He was sent to the hospital immediately to receive treatment.
The victim's shooting has not yet been confirmed by the Zamfara State Police Command.
Due to numerous attacks and kidnappings of commuters and residents of the villages along the Gusau-Funtua Highway, the route is known for banditry.
