Ogunleye Ayorinde, a 23-year-old motorcycle operator, has been taken into custody by Ondo State Police on suspicion of rape and armed robbery.Around 7:30 p.m., Ayorinde is said to have targeted a young woman when she got on his motorcycle to ride towards Alagbaka from Owo Road.
The woman was allegedly forced inside an incomplete building by the suspect, who threatened her with a knife before sexually abusing her.
The victim was then compelled, according to a source, to transfer N120,000 from her savings account to a mobile payment site after Ayorinde took her Android phone.
Using his mobile number, detectives from the Okuta-Elerinla division located and arrested the culprit.
Funmi Odunlami, a spokesman for the state police, verified Ayorinde's arrest and admission of guilt.
Odunlami declared that after a thorough investigation, the suspect would soon face charges in court.
In a another incident, eleven armed people ambushed and stole from businessman Chidi Chukwu as he was riding his motorcycle in Akure.
Chukwu was hurt on his right hand by the attackers, who stole his motorcycle and brandished machetes, hammers, and other weapons.
Soon after the attack, Bode Hammed, 37, and Ayomide Adebayo, 25, were taken into custody.
In addition, Odunlami stated that charges would be brought against them while the hunt for the remaining suspects goes on.
